Types

Absolute Absolute sensors measure the pressure of a system relative to a perfect vacuum. These sensors incorporate sensing elements which are completely evacuated and sealed; the high pressure port is not present and input pressure is applied through the low port. Altimeters & Barometers fall under this.	Compound A sensor that can display both positive and negative vacuum pressures.	Differential Pressure is measured by reading the difference between the inputs of two or more pressure levels. The sensor will have two separate pressure ports; the higher of the two pressures is applied through the high port and the lower through the low port.
Sealed Gauge A sealed gauge reference is very similar to vented gauge, except that atmospheric pressure is sealed on the negative side of the diaphragm.	Switches These are switches that activate when a preset pressure condition has been met. They are often normally open or normally closed type switches.	Vacuum Vacuum Sensors measure pressure below atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi). Operating pressure is typically called out as a negative value as vacuum sensors illustrate the difference between measured and atmospheric pressure.
Vented Gauge A vented gauge pressure transmitter for example allows the outside air pressure to be exposed to the negative side of the pressure sensing diaphragm, via a vented cable or a hole on the side of the device, so that it always measures the pressure referred to ambient barometric pressure.
