If you need to power your Pi separately then I've found something like this to be a good bet.

I have been working on my project and I'am nearly done :)
Still running some tests with the power supply and I found out I need to power that 1 amp for the raspberry pi, otherwise without it the system just shuts down when I run the motors. Hopefully I will be getting an external power supply for the Pi (any suggestion? has to be small)
I added a link to one of the tests I have been doing with the motors when I power the Pi separately.
without powering the R-pi and when running the motors the system just shuts down and I have to restart.
