Looking forward to seeing how you get on. I haven't tried using Java on the Pi myself, apart from indirectly in the sense that the Arduino IDE is written in Java and unfortunately runs rather slowly. That was on the old Model B and B+ though. Hopefully with the increased grunt of the Pi 2 things should be better.
