UBEC and USB Power Supply

Hi Guys

Having fun building this thing, but I've just got a bit stuck - probably because I have no prior experience with robotics.

I have a Chassis Bundle and have got to the part where I fit the UBEC and mini-Driver. I have a USB power supply/power bank with 2 outputs (2A and 1A) so figured I'd use this instead of the 6 batteries.

My question: Do I still need the UBEC? I can't see the UBEC in this power bank tutorial (http://blog.dawnrobotics.co.uk/2014/06/new-product-power-bank-raspberry-pi-robot/) but i'm thinking maybe the UBEC wasn't in these kits when that was written?

Not sure...still getting the hang of this!

I have the mini driver with the motors and servos hooked up, but no battery packs or anything like that installed yet. So any guidance on what I do now with the USB power bank would be appreciated.

Hi Rich,

Glad to see you on the forums.

This is my fault for not updating the instructions yet as I said I would. Basically, you don't need the UBEC if running from a powerbank, and other people have come across this problem. Forum user pageauc wrote a great post with his findings here.

Now, off to update the instructions.
