TeckNet iEP387 keeps turning itself off

Postby SimonBirrell » Sat Jan 03, 2015 8:45 pm

Has anyone else seen this behaviour? I have a TeckNet iEP387 plugged into the Arduino mini-driver and Pi as specified. I turn it on as recommended (Arduino slider first, then pressing the button), then the following happens:

1. The Pi and Arduino turn on (LEDs illuminated). All four blue LEDs on the battery are steady.
2. After around 8 seconds, one of the blue LEDs starts flashing (the one furthest from the switch). This continues for around 10 seconds.
3. The furthest LED goes steady again, for another 4 seconds.
4. The Arduino and Pi turn off
5. About a second later, the battery pack LEDs turn off.

This happens every time. The pack has had a long overnight charge, so I think it's charged (I'm aware that the LEDs sometimes lie). I wonder if for some reason the Pi+Arduino aren't drawing enough current to keep the pack on.

When the pack arrived from Dawn, it was fully charged and worked just fine. This has happened since the first full recharge.

Anybody seen this?

Thanks,

Simon

well,

yes its happened to me too, if you wanna laugh... i finished the robot, i connected the battery pack to both arduino and raspberry pi and.... it was turning off...
the sequence was.
- i turned on the battery pack,
- arduno and raspberry turned less on
- after 10-15 seconds everything was going off....

well what happened was that the micro flash was slipped out from the correct position, so that RPI was not booting... no sketch was loaded to arduino.... and everything was going off...

just to try, connect the battery pack to a phone or something else drawing enough current to see if it really works or not. it might have a problem and being a DOA.

just to share a bit stupidity of myself

You sir, are a GENIUS! This was exactly the problem.

Stupidity shared is stupidity lessened.

Awesome, thank you very much for sorting this out guys. This is why it's great to have a forum. :)

I've update the powerbank instructions to warn about this issue and linked back to this forum post.
