Testing python script on robot

Hi,

Because I'm a noob at Python, I need to test my script a lot on my robot, but since my battery is only goor for 3 hours power I try to setup my robot on AC power with the 'wheels up' so the robot won't drive away. :D

What should I connect to the PI and what to the driver board?

Hi Danny,

The recommended setup for this would be to leave the battery pack connected to the mini driver with the power switch 'on' and then power the Pi using a wall adapter (1.2A to 2A is best).

In this setup the power adapter will power the Pi, and the battery will power the motors. Because the battery pack is no longer powering the Pi, and also because the motors won't be running continuously, you should find the battery pack lasts much longer (I would hope at least 2 to 3 times longer) giving you much more time for debugging.

If you needed to debug and run the motors for really long times then you could power the motors from a benchtop power supply, but I'd try the battery pack apporach to begin with.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Alan

Thanks Alan,

This was what I was looking for. And indeed my batterypack lastst much longer, enough for me to test my scripts.
