Photography workshop
This workshop is part of the Graphics Lab, a project aimed at picture retouching to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. To ask questions or make a suggestions, see the talk page of the graphic lab page.
This specific page is the requests page for the Photography Workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

- Remove watermarks from photographic images
- These are all images uploaded by User:Cemendtaur snapshots from Australia, and they all have large visible watermarks. Visible enough that I noticed it when viewing an image at en: Kata Tjuta, and once I’ve noticed it it’s apparent even in thumbnail view. They look like the sort of watermarks that would be hard to be remove, which I think is intentional, so the other option would be to remove them from any articles they are in (which are not short of images) and delete them.--JohnBlackburne (talk) 05:15, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Cropping and removal/alleviation of digitization artifacts[edit]

- I'd like these pictures of key figures of The Gillette Company to be cropped and "prettied up" as much as possible. The images have distracting artifacts (especially the one of Gillette), some of which were probably introduced by the digitization process (done by Google) and some that are just inherently there due to the photos being printed on paper. I know little of image editing so I can't even tell the names of the operations that are needed or possible for each of these images.
- The images aren't of amazing quality but they're the best ones I could find. I extracted them from the downloadable .tar archive of The Gillette Blade company magazine collection, available on Archive.org.
- A cropped version of the picture of Gillette already exists here and that one could be replaced with the improved version. Pictures of Nickerson and Joyce would probably be new uploads. ---- Veikk0.ma (talk) 12:48, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Reupload the file with transparent background[edit]

- For some reason WikiCommons cannot make this image displayed with transparent background although in any other photo viewer or editor (e.g. Photoshop) the background is transparent. See File talk:Flag-of-Israel-TB-Zachi-Evenor.png. Please fix this problem, and if possible: preserve the EXIF of the file. --MathKnight ✡ (Talk) 18:35, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
- Apparently it is a bug in all Wikimedia projects, in which PNG can't display transparent background unless in original size. Developer or expert Common user may update on the situation handling and solving this bug. MathKnight ✡ (Talk) 17:17, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

- Fix the chromatic aberration/purple fringing. Wikigraphist that takes this request should be aware CAs are not fixed with the clone tool. I made {{CA cleanup}} to categorize these photos in Category:Images with chromatic aberration problems, but since nobody is watching that (yet) I'm making this request for images that are currently in use. Note that the composite dive photo is cropped, so you may want to load the full photo (first revision) to fix the CA. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 10:45, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

Reupload files with (efective) transparent background[edit]

- For some reason these images did not display with transparent background. They are copies of efective transparent background images, treated with GIMP and exported with transparent background. Maybe I did not use the correct options when exporting in GIMP. If you can help me to prevent this situation in my next editions I will appreciate , thank you in advance --JotaCartas (talk) 16:55, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

- Additionally (and optionally), the window/reflection background might be darkened or otherwise simplified to keep focus on the central subject. Noisy backgrounds don't make for great portraits.
