This page is considered an official policy on Wikimedia Commons. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone must follow. Except for minor edits, please make use of the discussion page to propose changes to this policy. |
User galleries are totally legal. Wikimedia Commons encourages them as long as they are not intended to promote. However, as noted at Commons:User-specific galleries, templates and categories, they must be in a User's own space, not main space. Thus User:MaryS may have a gallery User:MaryS/Gallery or User:MaryS/My Photographs, but not MaryS, Gallery:MaryS, or any other personal gallery that does not have the prefix "User:MaryS/".
