English: Daniel Bell, former slave, blacksmith at the Washington Navy Yard. Bell is # 22, on the January for 1848 navy yard payroll. Bell was one of the organizers of the April 1848 famous heroic mass escape attempt of enslaved people on the schooner Pearl.
