Summary[edit]

Description
English: A stormy sky, with mainly Stratocumulus lacunosus clouds, photographed just before a stormy shower in June. Maine-et-Loire département, France. The lacunosus variety is rather uncommon. The typical "holes" punched in the cloud are downdrafts of cool, dry air in a layer of warm, moist, and ascending air. Geodata is not precise in order to respect author's privacy.
Français : Ciel d'orage, constitué principalement de Stratocumulus lacunosus, photographié en juin peu avant une averse orageuse dans le département du Maine-et-Loire (France). La variété lacunosus est plutôt rare. Les "trous", dus à des descentes localisées d'air froid et sec au sein d'une zone ascendante chaude et humide sont caractéristiques de cette variété. Les coordonnées de géolocalisation ne sont qu'à quelques kilomètres près, pour protéger la vie privée de l'auteur.
