I became a Commons Editor on 19 February 2007 or perhaps earlier via IP Address, I actually registered on Commons on 25 February 2007, and I became an English Wikipedia Editor on 21 December 2006 as JeffGent and changed name on 31 May 2007 to Jeff G. I have over 18,000 contributions to Commons[1], including over 2,800 in the Commons namespace and over 2,900 in the User talk namespace. I also have over 96,900 contributions to English Wikipedia[2], and an account on Flickr. I am trusted as a Flickr reviewer. My Talk page is here. My Contributions are here. I understand and agree with the goals of the project. I have a user page on the Commons, am a Commons contributor, am interested in helping the Wikimedia Commons community, and have email setup. I agree to follow relevant policies and respect consensus of the Commons' users. I have added Babel info on my user page, so other users will know languages I speak or understand. I have read Commons:Deletion guidelines and the top section of Commons:Deletion requests, and have filed deletion requests on those bases. I have the following pages on my watchlist: Commons:Help desk, Commons talk:Licensing, Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and its subsections: Vandalism, Attention, User problems, Blocks & protections and Commons:Disputes noticeboard (formerly Disputes). I try to make the world, the Wikimedia/Wikipedia community, and Commons a little bit better with each edit/action (which sometimes includes inaction). I try to use an Edit Summary to summarize each and every edit, and have done very well at that here and on English Wikipedia[3]. I try to practice certain concepts best expressed on MeatballWiki, such as: DefendEachOther; ModelDesiredBehavior; NameTheConflict; and BeProfessional.
I support SpamCop, but I have certain disagreements with SpamCop's pedantic nature and its unwillingness to support postmaster and abuse mailboxes. I also support RFC-Ignorant.Org, The Spamhaus Project, and the Network Abuse Clearinghouse. I believe in the philosophy 'my mailboxes, my mailserver, my hardware, my network, my rules.' I also believe that no individual or organization should be providing services and access to spammers (except possibly wardens and corrections officers), including such services and access as route announcement, routing, PPP, SLIP, Ethernet, IP, TCP, Registration, DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, UUCP, HTTP, HTTPS, and webmail.

My watchlist here continues to grow - it stands at 2,457 entries, and I continue to try to keep up with it (as I mentioned in this edit); I am (with certain exceptions) caught up to 23:50 on 13 October 2007 (EST), but I try to keep up with my user talk page daily, so please use that if something urgent (or consensus in the opposite direction of my previous opinion or listing) comes along. Copyright paranoia[edit]
In the US, it is a difficult balancing act between the copyrights of the individual creator, the copyrights of the creator's industry, the usage rights of the individual user, and the public good. I think in the US the copyrights of the creator's industry are overemphasized due to paid lobbying by creators' industries (as are the rights of many other industries), specifically including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in the case of freedom of panorama, as well as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), which were behind the infamous Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that was similar in many ways to the EU Copyright Directive (EUCD). October 28, 1998 and May 22, 2001 were very chilly days for the usage rights of the individual and the public good.
