Category moves[edit]

Request for a non controversial name change of a category:

1 green.svg All moves/name changes have to follow Commons policy. Please do not request changes that may be controversial.

2 green.svg You are fully responsible for the requested category move.

3 green.svg Please remember to include an explanation and your username to new requests. This makes it easier for admins to process them.

If requesting multiple moves for the same reason, please copy-and-paste the reason in.
Good explanations are short, clear, and concise, such as "typo", "full name", "consistency with related categories", and so on. Longer explanations are useful in complicated issues.

4 green.svg Use the following command template (please fill out all fields and stick on the exact format):

{{move cat|Old cat name|New cat name|3=Explanation|user=Your username}}

5 green.svg Updating references to the new category name is the duty of the requester. Update all references to the new category name where needed. This part of the task is not automated. (Use the "What links here" tab to find out which categories or pages are still linked to the old category name.)

Reason provided: This building is no longer referred to as the New Parliament House, the Wikipedia article follows the school name - Admin: Approve
Rename Category:Dutch Reformed Church, Wolmeransstad to Category:Dutch Reformed Church, Wolmaransstad (0 entries moved, 20 to go) (Requested by SAplants)
Reason provided: Typo, "e" in name of town must be "a" - Admin: Approve
Rename Category:Dasaratha to Category:Dasharatha (0 entries moved, 21 to go) (Requested by Redtigerxyz)
Reason provided: In line with name on English wiki, which is the common name - Admin: Approve
Rename Category:9/11 anniversaries to Category:Patriot Day (0 entries moved, 21 to go) (Requested by WFinch)
Reason provided: Restore to original name of category, created in April 2010 and moved without discussion in September 2011. This is the official name of the observation, used in Wikidata and corresponding Wikipedia articles of all languages. I am not able to move the category back myself. - Admin: Approve
Rename Category:Sarah Noble-Ives to Category:Sarah Noble Ives (0 entries moved, 20 to go) (Requested by Sweet kate)
Reason provided: Her name was not hyphenated and would be alphabetized under Ives, so current category is confusing and doesn't match Wikipedia en:Sarah Noble Ives - Admin: Approve
Rename Category:Ottoman period in the history of Cyprus to Category:Cyprus under Ottoman rule (0 entries moved, 16 to go) (Requested by Cplakidas)
Reason provided: Move back to the original and long-established name, in conformity with other Cyprus history period categories (as this is the primary topic, consistency here should take priority over the "Ottoman Empire by country" category) - Admin: Approve

{{move cat|Cervus albirostris|Przewalskium albirostris|first name is no more valid ; Przewalskium albirostris is preferred by IUCN & Mammal Species of the World (Przewalskium albitrostre by ITIS)|A1AA1A}}

IUCN says "This species was formerly classified in a distinct genus as Przewalskium albirostris, however, morphological, behavioural and genetic analyses align this species with the Red Deer clade (Wilson and Mittermeier 2011)." Feel free to start a CfD request. --Achim (talk) 18:29, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

{{move cat|Alan Simpson (U.S. politician)|Alan Simpson (American politician)|Consistency with Wikipedia article title Alan Simpson (American politician)}}

I don't think this move is needed, consistency with en: wiki was never a reason. I had a quick look at naming of politicians, options are adding (politician) or (STATE politician). Only a few have (American politician), (U.S. politician) is far more common. -- Deadstar (msg) 16:24, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Perfect! =) I requested the article to be moved then: en:Talk:Alan_Simpson_(American_politician)#Requested_move_24_March_2018. --Saippuakauppias (talk) 02:20, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

{{move cat|East China Normal University - Putuo campus|East China Normal University - North Zhongshan Road Campus}}

No reason provided --Ruthven (msg) 07:23, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

{{move cat|The Jews a Peki'in|Judaism in Peki'in|Standard naming in Category:Judaism by city by country is 'Category:Judaism in City"}} and a subcategory: Category:Jewish people of Peki'in for the tree Category:Jewish people by country? --ŠJů (talk) 02:50, 8 August 2018 (UTC) Israel, Yemen and Singapore have an anomaly. Israel has standardly Category:Judaism in Israel by city, but for Jews, they have a category Category:Jews of Israel with no subdivision categories, instead of "Jewish people of...". --ŠJů (talk) 14:54, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

The contents of the cat. is Judaism, not Jews, so there is no problem. DGtal (talk) 22:09, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
