This image came from this set, which are clearly not created by the Flickr user, so their licensing statements are invalid. I've deleted the image as a copyright violation. Please try to evaluate the credibility of Flickr users' claims before transferring their uploads here. - Hi there. The flash videos on Al Jazeera site are shrunk. I thought the original uploader captioned the flash video and therefore it is shrunk on commons too. So I downloaded the file to my harddrive via the download link - the downloaded mpeg video had correct ratio already, I used ffmpeg2theora to convert it but I too notice, that there is no change after upload. My initiative did not work out suprisingly - any hints why?--Kozuch (talk) 20:52, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe because all videos I've uploaded were also converted from the original mpg-files to ogv? I converted all mpg's to ogv's with OggConvert. So re-encoding is really not needed. --Jeroencommons (talk) 06:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Přepsané soubory, údaje k ověření[edit]
Zdravím. Narazil jsem v diskusi Commons:Hospoda U Commons#Nahrazování fotek na zmínku o chybě, kterou jsi v roce 2009 udělal při nahrávání fotografie. Předpokládám, že od té doby jsi již byl poučen nebo ses sám rozkoukal, že nové fotky se musí nahrávat pod novým názvem a že přepisovat novými fotkami starší fotky, obzvlášť cizí, je nepřípustné. Nejsi jediný, kdo se této chyby dopouštěl - zřejmě by to chtělo ještě víc vylepšit nápovědu a nahrávací dialogy. Nicméně protože málokdo se jí dopustí jen jednou, pro jistotu jsem letmo prošel všechny tvé editace typu "uploaded a new version". Většina byla v pořádku a například doladění barev u některých leteckých fotek byla velmi užitečná práce. Také tvoje vlastní fotky jsou docela pěkné, nicméně jsem narazil na 8 případů (všechny z roku 2009), kde jsi svými fotkami přepsal cizí fotky, a navíc ve všech případech jsi v popisu ponechal původní údaje o autorovi a datu pořízení, čímž jsi de facto své fotky vydával za fotky jiných autorů a navíc s chybným údajem o datu pořízení. Tím se původní autoři mohou cítit dvojnásob poškozeni (jednak že jsi neoprávněně odstranil, resp. skryl jejich fotky, a za druhé žes jejich autorství přisoudil tvé fotky), nehledě na narušení projektu jako takového. Tvoje uploady jsem revertoval, t. j. na původních názvech jsem obnovil původní fotky, a navíc jsem tvé chybně uploadované fotky nahrál pod novými názvy.
Vypíšu ti tady jejich seznam
- Název původního souboru → Nový název, pod kterým je nahrána tvoje fotka

Bylo by dobře, aby sis ty tvoje fotky jednu po druhé prošel a potvrdil své autorství a licenci, příp. další údaje.
- Fotky jsi sice nahrál, ale nikde ses neprohlásil za jejich autora, naopak jsi za autory tvých fotek (zřejmě omylem) prohlásil úplně jiné uživatele. Pokud skutečně jsi autorem, měl bys vymazat z kolonky "Author" spekulace o uploaderovi a ponechat tam jen své jméno.
- není úplně zřejmé, jestli jsi své fotky jakožto autor uvolnil pod nějakou volnou licencí. V popisu jsi sice ponechal údaje o licenci, pod níž byly uvolněny původní, tebou přepsané fotky, ale není jasné, jestli tvůj upload má být brán tak, že jsi svoje fotky uvolnil pod toutéž licencí. Spíš to působí dojmem, jako že sis popisu vůbec nevšímal a o nějakých licencích vůbec netušil, co to je – navíc je divné, že jsi prakticky každou z těchto fotek nahrál pod jinou licencí. Takže by bylo dobré, abys uvedené licence buď potvrdil, nebo popřel a nahradil řádně udělenými.
- K tvým fotkám jsi neuvedl datum pořízení, respektive ponechal jsi u nich údaje vztahující se k původním fotografiím, které zjevně k tvým fotkám nepatří. Jakási data jsou uvedena v EXIF datech. Pokud jsi si jistý, že jsi měl datum ve foťáku správně nastaveno, bylo by dobré, kdybys z kolonky "Date" odstranil obě spekulace vycházející z dostupných údajů (datum uploadu a datum dle EXIF) a ponechal pouze šablonu s datem.
- Pokud se domníváš, že do některých článků, galerií nebo jiných stránek by měly být přidány tvoje fotky, resp. měly by tam jimi být nahrazeny jiné fotky, tak teď je příležitost to provést, tentokrát již řádnou cestou.
Dalším souborem, který jsem nahrál pod novým názvem, byl výřez, kterým jsi přepsal původní fotku:
Přepsání jinou verzí je určeno pouze pro drobné technické úpravy, které nijak nemění autorskou podstatu původního díla. Pokud děláš zásadní výřez nebo jinou úpravu, která podstatně mění původní dílo a jeho pojetí a kompozici, tak je to již odvozené dílo, které musíš nahrát opět pod novým názvem a neměl bys je vydávat za dílo původního autora, ale za tvé dílo vzniklé pozměněním či využitím původního díla.
Váhal bych, jestli je správné, že jsi soubor File:Nachod CoA CZ.jpg přepsal verzí s úplně jiným odstínem modré a úplně jiným tvarem lva ve štítu - pokud barevné odstíny a podoba znaku nejsou jasně oficiálně předepsány, tak by spíš bylo vhodné ponechat v Commons obě verze. Ale vzhledem k tomu, že -xfi- se k tomu zpracování nehlásil jako ke svému autorskému dílu a ani jeden z vás jste neuvedli zdroje, z nichž jste své představy o podobě znaku čerpali, tak je dost obtížné ten rozdíl nějak řešit. Není přece možné, aby z téhož zdroje pocházely dvě tak rozdílné podoby, a stejně tak není možné, aby bylo za oficiální podoby znaků vydáváno něco, co je z poloviny dílem fantazie uživatelů Commons.
Ještě jsem narazil v kategorii Náchod na nesrovnalost u fotek Metuje high water 01.JPG, Metuje high water 02.JPG, Metuje high water 03.JPG, Metuje high water 04.JPG, Metuje high water 05.JPG, nahraných 30. srpna 2009. Do popisu fotky uvádíš datum 2009 (což je, vzhledem k povaze subjektu fotky, údaj velmi málo přesný) a v EXIF datech je údaj 30. dubna 2006. Pokus se prosím rozpomenout, který z těchto údajů je špatně, a datum v popisu fotky upřesnit. Zrovna velká voda je takový typ události, že fotka bez správného časového údaje se stává encyklopedicky téměř bezcennou. P. S. - ta Metuje high water 01.JPG je opravdu ze stejného data jako ty další čtyři fotky? Řeka na ní vypadá podstatně klidnější.
Doufám že se tyhle drobnosti podaří dořešit a přeji mnoho dalších pěkných fotek. --ŠJů (talk) 00:29, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:
- Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
- This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
- Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition.
