July 2019 Developer Update

It's been another busy quarter for us at FarmBot and we've seen a tremendous response to the launch of FarmBot Express. Hardware is not the only thing that's new at FarmBot, though. We've also made substantial changes to our software and developer ecosystem:

FarmBot OS v8 Beta Testing

FarmBot OS v8 is now in public beta and offers a number of new features. We are still performing our final QA checks and invite developers to preview the release before it is finalized. We would also like to give a special thanks to FarmBot user jsimmonds, who has been instrumental in helping us improve the stability of FBOS v8. Thanks, John!

New Public Github Projects

Another change here at FarmBot is how we manage our internal software development workflow. We have always strived to be as transparent as possible. However, our main project management tool (Trello) was not publicly visible, and this lack of public visibility made it difficult for third party developers to participate in the development process.

To increase participation and information flow, we are transitioning away from a private Trello board and into a publicly visible Github Project. This means that third party devs can now see what happens at FarmBot on a day-to-day basis and also take part in discussions as they happen.

See It For Yourself

If you are eager to see the upcoming changes in FBOS v8, consider flashing a release candidate to your device today. Please be aware that this is a pre-release and is under active QA testing.

We would also love to hear about your experiences as a third party FarmBot developer. If you haven't done so already, please take a moment to fill out our third party developer survey.
