Samsung Galaxy S8+ Unboxing and first impressions

-

Super excited today! I finally got the new Samsung Galaxy S8+ in the mail and I couldn’t wait to make an unboxing video of the flagship.

OK so as soon as we open the box, we are presented with the phone itself. I have the Midnight Black version and it looks gorgeous. Putting the phone aside and checking the accessories, I notice that they come in black now instead of white as it used to be in the previous flagship. I like that Samsung made this change to keep the colors more consistent with the device itself.

What’s in the box

In the box we can find the following accessories:

  • Fast Charging 9-volt power adapter
  • USB-C to USB-A cable
  • micro USB to USB-C adapter
  • USB-A to USB-C adapter
  • AKG earbuds

Looking at the phone itself, we still have the power button on the right side and on the left, we have the volume keys with the addition of a new button dedicated to Bixby which is Samsung’s new A.I. assistant. At the top, we have one microphone for noise cancellation and also the SIM and Micro SD card slot. On the bottom, we have one single speaker, the USB Type-C port and yes a 3.5 mm headphone jack which I’m glad that Samsung didn’t take it out.

On the back, the heart rate sensor and the camera flash were moved from the right side of the camera to the left side to accommodate the fingerprint sensor. The position doesn’t feel natural like different devices that have the fingerprint sensor in the middle but, looking at photos of the inside of the phone, the battery position might’ve been the reason why.

Now going back to the front, we see the new and beautiful infinity display with an 18.5 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2960 x 1440 which give us a pixel density of 529 pixels per inch. We also see at the top the 8 Mega Pixels front-facing camera and the iris scanner.

The phone feels nice in the hands. The edges, feel smoother than the Galaxy S7 Edge and doing a small size comparison between the two, the S8+ is not that much bigger and we get a bigger screen.
