Hi All,

How should I wire up a physical Stop switch to a RPi GPIO pin; do we connect the switch to Ground or 3.3v?

Also; have any internal pullup or pulldown resistors been set in software, or should we be adding these externally.

Many thanks,

Perfect...The LED Backlight is working for me now in the latest Beta version.

For the record; I'm using LCD Display LCM1602 with a HD44780 controller/driver and a piggy backed IIC/I2C Serial 1602 2004 LCD Interface Adapter Board Module( PCF8574T)

If anyone wants to hard-wire their backlight instead of trying the latest Beta software, then you can simply connect Pin 1 (LED-K) to Pin 16 (Vss Ground Logic) on the LCD

Many thanks Shahin for implementing this in software, which is a much better solution of course.

Hi Shahin,
Can I also register my interest in an option to turn on the backlight.

I purchased a 16x2 with an orange backlight for future proofing and to look nice in conjunction with my machines amber (orange) perspex cover.

Meanwhile, does anyone have any suggestions for manually hardwiring the LCD or the  iic/i2c adapter, so that the backlight remains on?

Many thanks,
