Problems with the New Image

Postby bfmersion » Fri Jun 20, 2014 4:48 pm

Hi Alan
First congratulations on a great project with the Pi Camera Robot; mine is very well behaved with the January image. Recently downloaded the May image and have not been successful in installing it. It boots to a blank screen with a cursor flashing upper left. Characters can be typed and appear but no action occurs on CR.
I have tried two different downloaded images on 2 different cards (one 4Gb and one 8Gb and on 2 different RP boards. Same results. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I think that this is a problem with the disk image not being expanded. It should still work with your robot, but it doesn't boot into the desktop because of a lack of disk space...

I will try to post a replacement image this week, but in the meantime I think that you should be able to press ctrl-alt-F1 or ctrl-alt-F2 to get to a command line. The on the command line if you run

sudo raspi-config

select 'Expand Filesytem' and then reboot, everything should be fine. Alternatively you should be able to connect using a network cable and ssh to do the same thing.

Sorry this is less than user friendly. Please let me know how you get on.

Regards

Alan

Hi Again Alan
Yes, great, the Alt-F1 produces the command line; however username and pw not known. Tried many guesses but to no avail. What to use?

Thanks Alan. I did finally arrive at that after going back to the original RPi software page. Now I have everyting OK. The image expanded nicely and everything ok on the non-robot RPi, so I expect the same on the Robot. Above, of course, what worked was Ctl-Alt-F1.
