The Grove system by Seeed Studio essentially makes use of a standardised connector, to make it really easy to attach sensors, and other modules to your Arduino project.
The Seeeduino comes with an I2C and a digital connector to get you started, whilst this Base Shield gives you a large number of extra connectors, and brings Grove modules to standard Arduino boards.
The new Base Shield V2 has a slightly different pin layout from the old Base Shield V1.3 which is compatible with the Arduino UNO Rev3. The main change is that the SDA and SCL pins are up next to the AREF pin. This means that if you intend to use the Base Shield V2 wit the Seeeduino, you need to solder pads P1 and P2 on the Base Shield V2.
