Hello!

The deadline originally set for today has been postponed to December 8, 2015. Same rules as last time: this is at 23:59 UTC, so you can look here to convert that into your timezone.

Here's what you need to do in the coming week:

  1. Finalize your design!
    1. There's no rule against creating a new revision before the contest ends, but you need to have a working circuit uploaded!
  2. Upload your schematic(s).
  3. Upload your BOM(s).
  4. Upload your design documents.
    1. This includes Gerber and Excellon drill files. DON'T FORGET THIS!

We will try to verify all projects' compliance with these rules by 23:59 UTC on December 7.

I just got a message to attach gerber files but there is no place to put them.? All I see are a description of the project and components.

Yes... The simplest solution is probably to upload them to GitHub or Dropbox and put a link onto your project page.

Hello guys, I think there is no need to worry about missing something, since the manufacturer will check it for you.

They always find mistake in my design for me, and inform me to correct that...very nice.

Quick question: Wouldn't a board shared in OSHPARK be an equivalent (I men an alternative) to gerber files? The shared boards can be easily reproduced thus achieving one of the objectives of the project.
I now that gerber files are industry standard but most of us are hobbyists who etches our own boards or send the eagle files straight to a manufacturer (nevertheless eagle is more or less a standard pcb file format nowadays). The big issue with gerber files is that most of us will simply generate them using eagle cam processor but they will end up not being tested.  :)

Asking for *finalized* design files, part lists etc weeks before working boards pretty much means that the board files are going to be untested.

Hello - as a quick test, perhaps reference for other users: I generated gerber data using the iteadstudio CAM file - available at http://blog.iteadstudio.com/how-to-export-gerber-files-from-eagle/ - from Eagle. I use this procedure to generate manufacturing data for Itead, but I'd rather be sure this is OK for contest. Could you, please, take a look at https://github.com/jaromir-sukuba/micro_progmeter/tree/master/hw/gerber and check whether it is OK? There are more users using Eagle, so known and working CAM file could make their life easier.

They also have blog entry regarding the gerber data export from KiCad http://blog.iteadstudio.com/how-to-generate-gerber-files-from-kicad/ it could be helpful for KiCad users.

I did my project on upverter ( https://upverter.com/HappyFox/ff755c4d871385dd/Square-Inch-Rover/ ) so all those files are there. What is the best way for me to link to that on my project ? The Description, build instructions, all the above ?

How will verification of compliance be inidcated? Will you just comment on the project saying hey you have everything, or hey you are missing x?
