Nordic Semiconductor’s low-power 2.4 GHz RF radio with pcb antenna and matching circuit per Nordic’s spec. Using much smaller XRCHA16MHz Murata crystal to reduce cost and board size. Adjusted antenna dimensions for better matching.

Appallingly small Teensy 3.x add-on board with 128 Mbytes of fast serial flash memory using an SPI communications interface. BGA-24 package Micron N25Q00AA flash chip with single chip select and all functional pins broken out. Board mounts onto the non-USB end of Teensy 3.x or Teensy-LC. Designed so it does not interfere with the I2C port on pins 16/17 of the Teensy 3.1.

Redesign of the breakout board for ST Microelectronics' VL6180X proximity sensor for breadboarding with Teensy and Arduino. VIN is between 3 and 5.5 V. Sensor uses time of flight to detect absolute distances independent of surface reflectance up to 25 cm away. Can be used to recognize hand gestures for sophisticated touchless micro-controlling. Small package, low cost, and low power usage makes integrating into existing projects, or use as a Teensy 3.1 or Arduino Pro Mini add-on board very attractive. In fact, VIN and GND can be supplied via Teensy GPIO pins by digitalWrite(HIGH) and digitalWrite(LOW) since total current draw is always less than 25 mA for this sensor. Replaced voltage regulator with TI TLV70728, reduced size of passives to 0402, and significantly improved layout. Shortened traces to bypass capacitors and added thermal path for voltage regulator.

Updated DC brushed motor controller intended as an add-on for Teensy 3.x. TI’s CSD13383F4 FemtoFets replace the SOT-23 PMV31XN MOSFETS and Comchip’s CDSQR4148-HF high-speed switching diodes replace the SOD-323 1N4148 diodes of the previous board. The new components are super small, and I made the traces wider and attempted to provide a good thermal sink for the 12 V, 2.9 A FETs. The board can be used standalone in a breadboard or, better, attached directly to a Teensy 3.x to use the PWM output at pins 3, 4, 22, 23.

Sharp 1.17-inch, 38 x 184 pixel TFT-LCD display as an add-on to Teensy 3.1. Display requires no more than 130 microamps so it can be powered via digitalWrite(HIGH) from any Teensy GPIO pin. This display can be mounted on a breadboard or, soldered or with female headers, mounted directly onto a Teensy 3.x providing a very compact, low-power, high-resolution display either on top or bottom of the Teensy.
