I use these boards to make inline voltage regulators for my trail cameras. A piece of ¾" heat shrink will cover it nicely then put a small plastic zip tie on each end. I usually then put a couple drops of super glue in the ends. The LM350 or LM350T VR’s work the same. Both are thermal protected and will shut down when they get to hot. I have had them running when they were to hot to touch. For game camera use a heat sink will not be needed. Nor are capacitors needed when using a battery as the source (no transients). I use this long board because the VR will fold down nicely making a neat package for the heat shrink tubing. The LM350 series are rated at 3 amps continuous, with heat sink. Non of my cams drain more than ½ amp while in operation.
Input voltage must be between 3V and 30V DC and at least 3V more than desired output voltage. Quiescent current is about 5ma which equates to about 1Ah drain per 8 days use.
