Real time clock

Back in my Mach3 days, I remember reading a lot about how important was for a PC that is used as a CNC controller to have an RTC to keep timings precise.

Is this one of the reasons that many people use Arduino?

Is there any merit in installing an RTC to Pi?

Would it make controlling the stepper over the GPIOs more reliable?

Re: Real time clock

What you have said exactly right.

NanoDLP developed by golang which is garbage collector language so even with RTC we cannot achieve what they have done with Mach3.
But they keep pushing GC pauses lower with each new go release, I guess soon it will have short enough pauses suitable for SLA Printers.

Even in current condition I am using nanodlp in direct mode. Pulses do not sound nice but I have not seen any missing pulses. And I do not thing it is very critical issue for SLA printers.

Re: Real time clock

I changed the pigpiod timing from 10 back to default 5. I Think it Sounds better.

Re: Real time clock

Pigpiod is only for PWM.
