Hi!
I am using nanoDLP on a Raspberry Pi 3, and I have installed the Windows version as well. When doing remote slicing (sending the order from the RPi to Windows), the two instances of nanoDLP communicate successfully, and the slicing is done and sent back to the Pi. However, it looks like instead of just decompressing the PNGs from the ZIP it is redoing the slicing, since the temperature on the Pi goes from 40ºC to 80ºC, and I get messages in the log about the geometry on the .STL file (contained in the ZIP as well). Should the Pi instance skip this, since the slicing has been done remotely?
I confirmed this issue with another user that saw the same behaviour. Just wanted to leave this here in case this is something that can be addressed in the future.
Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work!

It should not happen once files received by your rpi version. Could you share log file on rpi after remote slicing?

Hey, Shahin! Thanks for the quick answer. I have been running more tests and the results are not consistent: the first run it did reslice the STL after bringing the sliced images from the Windows machine. However, in subsequent ones the system worked perfectly. I tried with several resin profiles, just in case, but everything looks good. I could not savage the log from the first run, but next time it happens, I'll attach it here.
Thanks!

Ok will wait for more reports. Communication issue on the first try could caused this issue. Will add more try to lower chance of this issue happens again.

I have the same issue on 1589. My server is a Linux Ubuntu instance running in a VirtualBox on my Mac. Here is a log that shows one model being slice remotely just fine and the second being sliced in both places!

It will be great to have this feature working well as it is a doozy of an add.

I see two plates deleted. Have you sent delete command for the same plate twice?

I assume that is a question for the OP as I don't see any deletes in my log?

Pressing regenerate issue delete command first. Atleast we have regenerate pressed twice maybe it is the root of the issue.
We need to handle regenerate button better.

Ok. I am 99.5% sure that I only pressed regenerate once in each case. I will try again in a bit.

I have tried a number of recreates and all sliced remotely with no issue! I am going to work with this as my default state so if anything goes bump in the night I will post again. Go figure!

Another data point...one remote slicing operation failed and one succeeded. The difference between the two was size, one was 300 layers and the other was 800 layers. also on the larger of the two I tried to do a look at the layers while it was slicing (but a second time that I did this the slicing finished ok). I did not get a chance to capture the logs but there was a message on the slicing that reverted to local that said something to the effect of "error unpacking". Sorry but I lost the message!

Please, share error message next time, it will be really useful.

Doop! This time I was quick enough to capture the error.

Wisar, thank you for the screenshot.
I have added additional error reporting on remote slicer. Please, try the latest version.
What is the OS of your computer?

The printer is an RPi3 and the remote slicer is the latest stable version of Ubuntu running in a VirtualBox machine on my iMac (OSX 10.12). Will do on the latest version.

Wisar,
Mac version also should work same as ubuntu version.

Gee...how long has there been a Mac version?
Offline
At-least 2 3 months, but 2 3 weeks ago it become full featured (directly could handle printers)

Wow. I missed both! Thanks for the effort on this software. It is a nice piece of work.

When you say latest version...do you mean beta? Also, do you want both ends at this version? I will test today.

When launching a new plate I am getting two "Started Remote Slicing" messages:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxF8I … XhYaTg5QkU
and on the remote slicer there are then two slicing operations running.
When they finish I get an error "Extract Issue" and a local slicing is initiated.
I tried to capture the log file from a terminal session but may have screwed something up. I thought I could delete the log file in printer/public but it did not come back. Is that where stuff is logged?

Could you try the beta version and let me know if the issue fixed or not.

It does seem to be working but I have to get it into a little more of a "production" configuration where I am using it for all of my slicing to be sure. I hope to get that done in the next couple of days. Thanks for the help.
BTW, Have you considered a little light monetization of your product? Something as simple as a PayPal contribute to future development button? It is a great little product and while I can not speak for others I would certainly make a contribution.

Thinking about additional products which could bring income.

If you should decide to put a contributions link here I will be happy to point it out to the Wanhao D7 Group on Facebook.
