Wi-Fi™ Technology
Wi-Fi is a wireless local area networking technology that is based on the IEEE 802.11 standards. Wi-Fi is the standard way that PCs connect to wireless networks. It can be applied to other devices as well because Wi-Fi is a wireless network standard. This means any "Wi-Fi Certified" device should be recognized by any "Wi-Fi Certified" access point. For this reason, Wi-Fi is one of the many popular short-range RF technologies that utilize the 2.4GHz license-free ISM band. While Wi-Fi is fairly power hungry, expensive, and demanding of processor resources, it is more optimized for large data transfers using high-speed throughput.
