Safety feature- cell inserted + end forward (like a flashlight) will reverse bias the diode and not allow current to flow. This uses the body as the + contact and the spring at the head is GND.
- D1 is a Diode’s Inc PDS1040, rated 10A with a 490mv drop.
Be especially cautious to prevent shorts to +!
I made this as an additional safety feature- if my wife / kid’s pick up a laser not paying attention and stick a cell in like they would a flashlight nothing will happen.

Open source direct driver LED driver populated with most parts off a standard 105c. See post #1360 in this thread (http://budgetlightforum.com/node/29562)
- D1 is SOT-323
- C1 is 10uf 0805 X7R
- OTC is 0805 (1uf for off-time based FW)
- R1 & R2 is the voltage divider (0805’s)
- D1 = SOD-323 (pad is R3 0805 if zener modded)
- Z1 is SOD-123 4.3v zener (only populate if needed)
- FET is SOT-23-3 (such as AO3400A or IRLML2502)
