I have tried and tried and I can not get the stepper to move at all. I am of the belief that there has to be some special coding in the PI3 in order to use a stepper with it? I have tried wiring an a4988 straight to the GPIO header with not luck, and then using a Ramps 1.4 with no luck. Either I am not hooking something up right or there needs to be additional programming in the PI. The mechanical I can do, I can make and burn circuit boards, etc. But, I can not, for the life of me get the hang of programming. So, I will keep plugging along and maybe, one day, something will snap and it will all fall together. Thanks everyone for your kind help.

Have you loaded the patched version of Marlin on the ramps ?? (https://github.com/mUVe3D/Marlin-mUVe1DLP-Running)

I have now. I should not let my failing here get me down. Sorry if it seems that way. I just want this to work.

Don't worry about it I often find myself screaming at the gods when getting things to work the way i want them. Added to which i was educated in engineering in the "If at first you don't succeed Get a bigger hammer" era
Youll get there if patient
Maybe go back and read this again https://www.nanodlp.com/download/
Its only 1 page but contains a lot of useful/critical info
Good luck

WOOP!! WOOP!! WOOP!! I got the stepper running with the PI3 using GPIO pins. Right now I am dry running it through 400 layers, allowing 3.9 seconds between layers. This, of course, will all change. Next is to build the vat and attach the FEP. Possible give it a test run this weekend with actual resin. Thank you all for the help you have given me. Without it, I would not be this far.
