Invensense’s latest motion sensor is a 7-axis accel/gyro plus pressure sensor integrated into a small package. The ICM20730 can be master to four slave devices; here ST Microelectronics' LIS3MDL magnetometer and Measurement Specialties MS5637 pressure/temperature sensor. This is an evaluation board to see how the ICM20730 embedded pressure sensor compares with a high-accuracy pressure sensor I have a lot of experience with and confidence in. The 9 DoF data will allow the use of open-source sensor fusion to get quaternions and Invensense has its own brand of sensor fusion with which this can be compared. This board will be used to gather beta user experience for feedback to Invensense as well as evaluate the integrated 7-axis capability for use in various development projects.

Nordic Semiconductor’s low-power 2.4 GHz RF radio with pcb antenna and matching circuit per Nordic’s spec. Using much smaller XRCHA16MHz Murata crystal to reduce cost and board size.

TCA9548A.I2CMultiplexer.v01x

Breakout board for Texas Instruments' eight-channel I2C multplexer allowing eight separate I2C devices to be controlled by a single host I2C bus. The breakout board accepts VIN from 1.65 to 5.5 V, the I2C lines all have 4K7 pull-up resistors, it has an active low reset (not broken out here but accessible via the resistor solder pad). The TCA9548A can have one of eight addresses so, in principle, up to eight of these boards could be ganged to control 64 separate I2C devices with one master I2C bus. This is particularly useful when using multiples of the same I2C sensor such as motion sensors or environmental sensors where the sensor device has a very limited (usually 2) range of I2C addresses. Added solder jumper to access two of the TCA9548A addresses so up to 16 I2C devices with the same I2C address can be managed with a single host I2C master bus using two of these boards.

LSM9DS0+LPS25H+EM7180SentralTeensyAddOn.v02

LSM9DS0 9-axis motion sensor plus LPS25H pressure sensor with the SENtral EM7180 sensor fusion hub with M24512DFM EEPROM to store the SENtral configuration file. SENtral takes 9-axis accel/gyro/mag from LSM9DS0 and performs hardware sensor fusion returning raw data, quaternions, linear acceleration, and heading, etc. Breakout board using the SENtral with jumpers to take power from edge pins for breadboard use or to mount directly on the Teensy 3.1 for comparison between open-source software sensor fusion and the hardware sensor fusion provided by the SENtral. SENtral can act as master to LPS25H pressure sensor and in the future include the pressure data in the sensor fusion.
