All of the software that goes on the robot (both Android and Arduino) has been posted!  A new version of the Robot Poser is being tested right now and will be posted within a week or two.

Made a 1/3 scale model of ROFI. It has all of the same parts as ROFI, but the electronics and servos are all printed (i.e. the robot isn't going to be moving by itself without a lot of imagination ;-). I originally created it because I just got a Replicator 2 and wanted to see what the new printer was capable of. After the model was printed and sitting on my desk two things occurred to me :

1. Working at 1/3 scale would be really useful for prototyping future robots.

2. Because it was so fast and cheap (3 hours to print and $2 in parts) it might be a good "gateway drug" to get more people to try building robots. After all, I never really thought I could build robots until I downloaded the parts and built a modified Z stage for my Cupcake printer.

Thanks to the CSULB EE class (building the first ROFI clone) for pointing out that some of the parts designed to work with the new MG966R horn style were too thick. Affected parts are:

- Center Bracket
- Foot
- Body Riser
- Servo Bracket Left
- Servo Bracket Right

The new parts have been fixed and the zip and STL files have been updated. The original ROFI has the old horn style, so we didn't notice the issue. The parts that are designed for the older style MG966R horn style are also available ( http://www.projectbiped.com/pr... ) but if you bought your servos after March 2012 you'll have the new style.

 


ROFI was recently featured in a few demos.  This is a video from the Homebrew Robotics club meeting on 10-24-2012 in Mountain View California.  In it ROFI traverses a table and turns around (that's his big party trick).  The Android tablet and other features are also demonstrated.
