Arduino CNC – GRBL Shields / Boards

2013/06/11 8:49 pm / 1 Comment / Bertus Kruger
Arduino CNC Shield V3

The following are a few of the shield / boards that are compatible with GRBL. GRBL is G-Code interpreter that is able to run on small Atmel Micro-controllers like the controllers used on Arduino Boards. Using GRBL (software) and these micro-controllers(Hardware) makes it very easy and affordable to build your own Computer Numerated Controlled Machines(CNC) … Read More →

Unirapid3-004

A Japanese company has built a 3D printer that is producing amazingly small items. (It’s called the Unirapid 3) It is a resin based printing machine so it’s not an entry-level machine but if this a taste of the future to come, then I am pleased with the way things are going. Below are some of the … Read More →

GRBL

We have created an Arduino Library of the popular GRBL g-code Interpreter. A great little application that turns your Arduino into a very capable CNC machine. This library makes it so much easier to install GRBL onto your Arduino. No more issues with making HEX files or trying to find a way to upload the Hex … Read More →

3d-printer-nozzle

Jerrill Johnson is an excellent example of  what a determined maker can achieve.  In the video below he demonstrates how he makes 3d Printer Nozzles from Acorn nuts. He uses a drill, Dremel rotary tool ,very fine drill bits and a few loose bits to make the parts. Jerrill has also added his custom tools to Thingiverse so you can print them off … Read More →

Smoothing-3D-Pinted-Items

3D Printing is getting better and better all the time but we are still not at the details level most people would want. Neil Underwood has developed a process that works better than the usual “dunk it in the acetone bath” method. By the way this only works on ABS parts.. 😉

Scara 3d Printer

Following up from our earlier post about Quentin Harley’s SCARA 3d Printer , we finally have some footage of it actually printing. The design is totally different from the normal Cartesian based printers and might just be the next big thing… Quentin also added a post on how to Calibrate the Morgan Reprap – SCARA 3d Printer. A copy of … Read More →

TM220A-Pick-And-Place

Dangerous Prototypes recently purchased a TM220A Pick & Place machine to do in-house prototyping. The machine is a very basic model but good for making a few boards at a time. Alignment is not perfect but with a well setup re-flow oven it will align the parts into place.
