Pick and place machines are robotic machines which are used to place surface-mount devices. They are used a lot in the electronics industry. Some are also used for stacking and packing manufactured goods.
The video below is a Pick and Place at work. Some machine can be very complicated and include computerized visual inspection where they can tell if a part was placed correctly.
