Hi there
First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Robert, and I'm from Poland. I fall in love with polargraph from the very first sight. That machine was one of "MUST HAVE" projects. So, I have it, and I'm trying to make some polargraphs. Everything seems to be OK, with one exception. I can not to do any drawings with solid square vawe pattern. With other patterns, I can do something. With solid square vawe, I always have full covered sufrace with no differences of clour (density of the lines). I have tried a lot of different settings without any success. I'm working with Arduino Uno + Adafriut shield with 2 steppers and servo (just normal machine). Firmware for Arduino is polargraph_server_a1, polargraph controller 2.1.1 with polargraph sketch. Do anyone knows what is wrong with my machine/software? Sorry for my poor english 🙁

Welcome 🙂 Solid square wave is solid - there is no variation! (http://www.instructables.com/id/Polargraph-Drawing-Machine/step22/Choose-a-pixel-style/) It's designed to be used in conjunction with pixel masking to produce things like:

from chroma-keyed separations. I only really used it the once, I admit.

I was wondering why I couldn't get any variation in those lines. That explains it. 🙂
