This may be a duplicate thread- feel free to delete if that is the case.

I didn't want to necropost in one of the older troubleshooting threads.

Just a place where users can post their finished drawings.

I have spent the last couple of weeks trying to see just how much I can push the drawing speed and resolution. I realized when putting this post up that with these images there is no sense of scale (I will put a scale in the images next time). Anyways, they range from 12" to about 14" for the dragon. Paper is 17"x20".

Short Video--> Fast Dragon

Finished dragon drawing ~3Hrs. Non-optimized paths.
Image

A sugar skull (Dia de los Muertos) ~1/2Hr
Image

Iron Giant ~1Hr
This has a few wild lines. That is because I had started another drawing on this piece of paper but the machine crashed (lost connection) less than a minute in. I didn't want to change the paper so I just started a new drawing on the same piece of paper.

Some more art using Polargraph software and D2S (Death to Sharpie)

All software used:

Polargraph firmware
Polargraph controller
Inkscape- For initial artwork
GIMP- To convert art for D2S
D2S - Without this I don't think it would be possible

My first multi-layer drawing. Doesn't look like much, but I had to separate the original drawing into layers and then re-index the plotter between plotter runs precisely enough that the layers lined up. I play World of Tanks, BattleTech and Mechwarrior online so I like images from those games

The wood plank background was drawn first and then the tank on a pad of paper was drawn on a subsequent run.

Thank-you! I noticed the pen was giving up and I could have stopped it early but I decided to let it run the entire queue anyways. I lost some shading detail...chalked up the experience as an experiment.

.3mm rollerball gel pen made by Pentel
~15Hr draw time
16" x 12" (about as large as I can draw with my current setup)

I admit, I really like the pen-running-out effect - it brings a real concreteness to a drawing, places it in time.

The tiled pattern embedded in the drawing - is that part of your adapted D2S script, or is it in the bitmap before rendering?

Yeah- I like it now but before it was finished I had no idea what I was going to get. Bit of drawing anxiety while I waited it out.

At the end of the time-lapse I linked is the link to the Sayagata half tone template I used.

The pattern is in the image before going through D2S.

Just finished another drawing this morning:

Removed the solid fill and replaced it with Thiessen (Voronoi) polygons for the shading.

Most of those kinds of issues seem to be because of a hardware setup mistake and or configuration error in the firmware.

I am not for sure...Sandy would be you best bet. You may try asking in one of his troubleshooting posts.

Aye Shorn's right, distortions like this are normally because of a small miscalibration somewhere, machine width being a mm or two off, or the home point being not quite accurate. It doesn't take much to cause a subtle distortion like that.
