Not sure if anyone's interested in this, but if you've got questions and don't want to email me, drop a message here, and I'll be happy to discuss.

Hey mate, how do you actually create the image that the machine ends up drawing out? I don't know if that makes sense but i just couldn't work it out. You probably wrote it on the site I just couldn't see it ha
Thanks
Matt

Hey Matt, welcome first visitor! At the moment, the software just interprets a bitmap, a jpg or a png, so there's a bit of prep goes on beforehand, getting it to the right size, adjusting the contrast, that kind of thing.

Hello,

a walkthrough video of some sort would be nice, if its prosessing based, could you also draw circles or other shapes ? experimenting style...

I'll see if I can get a video of the setup done - worth a thousand words, they say.

It's written to use only bitmaps at the moment, so of course you can make a bitmap with whatever patterns you like in it, but the controller software itself doesn't contain any drawing / painting functions.

Aye, you just create an image in whatever program you like, and save it, then modify a bit of code in the controller so it knows to load your image file. I'll write a filepicker for it at some point, but until then it's a bit clunky like this.

When you run the controller, it looks like this:

Image

And there's various functions and things available to select the area that you want to print, calibrate the machine and issue commands to do a drawing. I'll do a quick vid at some point, if it's as easy as it looks!

There's a bit more on http://code.google.com/p/polargraph/wiki/SoftwareControllerGuidev1 too.

Cheers
