Hello everyone

Firstly thank you to Sandy for his great work,

I received my polargraph two weeks ago and I started with my first drawings, I do a lot of adjustments and tests for the moment, to find the right settings.

Here are the first drawings :
- statue of liberty (norwegian pixel + scribble)
- a skull (homemade vector file)

I had a problem with the servo that worked only the first few days, it works but practically no responds to C13 and C14 controls, I think there is a problem with the potentiometer (?). That does not stop me from trying other drafting standards (norvegian pixel and scribble).

Also, when I selected the "sawtooth" standard in the application, it does not seem to be shaping the image I chose (?)

Visible distortions in the drawings are due to the settings of the machine (I have to set the parameters and stepsPerRev stepmultiplier on my polargraph (thank you to contributors to the forum posts which helped me find the solution)

The quality of photography is low, I do not have much light to take pictures and I use a very fine pen for drawing.

Looks good Hadrien, send me an email if you need a hand with the servo. It might just be broken, or you can try changing the "pen up position" and "pen down position" on the "setup" tab, and doing a "test lift range" to see if any values make it behave better.

The sawtooth shouldn't really be in the controller at all - It was actually the very first pixel style ever, and it has never worked sensibly! I thought I had disabled it, but obviously not. Sorry!

Hi,

For the moment I use the norvegian pixel for my drawings and I cut the edges with a paper trimmer, so I do not use the servo.

My first "big" achievement:

13 hours of work (I still have not adjusted the settings stepsPerRev and stepmultiplier). I use a low-end fine pen that works great.

Another one : http://www.flickr.com/photos/100067288@N05/9482412157/
5 hour, 10cm x 9 cm

I hesitate to add heat sinks on my stepper motors, the temperature is very important and it is an inexpensive investment.

I don't think the pen lift on the norwegian pixel actually makes much difference anyway - I quite like to see the interconnecting lines.

The motors do get hot, that's true. That's not very cool, ha ha. If they are too hot to touch, then there's something to fix, but I've never found any actual problem result from the heat (beyond a general feeling that it should be better). You could try adjusting the stepper driver current (there's a post at http://www.polargraph.co.uk/2013/02/tuning-stepper-drivers-for-strength-and-subtlety/ about it). Just when you've changed the settings, keep an eye (and a finger) on the motors to make sure you haven't made it worse 🙂
