I've put a decent amount of time trying out all of the options for the motors and I still don't seem to have found a solution. I've done the research and looked up the couple of links that you've put out about switching wires and motor position but I can't seem to get them to move in the right direction with the up and down AND left and right. I've tried every which way I can imagine. If there are two different positions for the motors and wires 1 and 2 can plug into motor A or B and they're either on the L or R. Then the combinations would be LA1,RB2:::LA2,RB1:::LB1,RA2:::LB2,RA1. I am only counting four different possibilities but I could be wrong. Anyway, I am not sure what else to do. I did notice that there was different pinouts for each motor. As in motor A has yellow in the position that motor B has brown. Although their corresponding colors were both black going into the motor housing. I don't know if that has to do with anything either. Just trying to brainstorm.

If you've got a PolargraphSD kit, the cables and motor units are made up already, so there shouldn't be any fiddling to be done.

I wonder if the motor cable has had one of it's connectors reversed?

The motor cables aught to both be identical, the ends look like this:

[ImageBoth ends of a PolargraphSD motor cable.

But also have a look at https://github.com/euphy/polargraph/wiki/Building-a-Polargraph-from-a-vitamin-kit#wiring which gives you the colour scheme for the most direct connection possible - and trace the wires through on the setup you have to see where the switch has taken place!

I'll let you get back to me about this, but if you want to swap the connectors yourself, you can, use a little flat bladed screwdriver to release the conductors from the connector. Flip it around. If it's that, I'll send you a set of fresh cables anyway, but you'll be quicker to do it yourself!

I'm sorry that's really frustrating isn't it.

I think I may have found the problem. The wires that are coming out of the housing that are going to connect with the BrROY wires are RBluGB and in the link it should be BluRGB. And they are both like this. So I should change them both to RBluGB correct?

That's what it was. I just had to rewire the red and blue with the blue and red.

Aha! Just a badly wired unit! On both motors? That's embarrassing, sorry about that.
