I had problems starting the polargrapcontroller (version 1.2.1 and 1.2.4) on a 64-bit windows7 machine with Intel i7-3610QM processor.
When starting the executable the default.properties.txt file appeared, and a javaw shows up in task manager. But no window ;-(
After some messing around (renamed javaw to java to get console with errors) I noticed the follow error : Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform .
Ok, I downloaded a 64-bit rxtxSerial.dll from this site: http://jlog.org/rxtx-win.html and replaced the one in the release-zip. Works !!!!

That said, there is also an option to compile a 64-bit version, so perhaps that's one of the differences between the two. I might start bundling the 64-bit version. I've tried to steer a little clear of 64-bit java to be honest, I haven't heard great things about it.

If you are still having no luck, the new polargraph.1.2.5.zip package has 64-bit binaries in it now, so you might try that. I don't use 64 bit java anywhere so I haven't tested it.
