Post servo and motors not engaging simultaneously

Hi sandy,
I'm using an adafruit motorshield v2 and two .9deg Nema 16 Bipolar Stepper. I have one external power adapter(3v-12v) for my arduino uno and another of the same one for my motorshield. I used a standard servo(Sunkee Tower Pro MG995 Metal Gear).

the reason why i have two external power adapter is because when i plugged in my servo on the motorshield, it's not working at all, i guess that's because the power from the usb port is not enough for the servo. the servo turns after I connected the arduino to a (3-12v) external power adapter, but my motors stops working.

Did you see the response from ryan13mt in the other thread?

Check the jumper pin in your motor shield. Thats what mine used to do, drove me insane.

If you have the jumper still in the motorshield remove it.

Ryan that's a different model of motorshield, but the jumper is labelled the same way, and does the same thing - unites the arduino and the motor power supplies. So if you want to use one power supply to run both, then the jumper should be there. Constant1928 doesn't even have the VIN pins soldered in on his board by the looks of things, so it's not possible to share the supply in this way. Which is a good thing in this case.

Make sure there are no short circuits from the bottom side of the motorshield against the USB socket case on the arduino. Just a guess.
