In the instructable for the Polargraph, you indicate that you use about 150g counterweights. Am I correct in assuming that your counterweights (two of them) are about 300g and that the gondola (plus pen) also weigh about 300g?

My gut tells me the combined counterweights are heavier than the gondola, but I'll check tomorrow. They are not intended to be finely balanced, because the gondola moves around, the weights and motors work with each other, assisting or in opposition, and so there is no "correct" weight. I left that bit vague deliberately to discourage you from paying it too much attention 🙂

FYI,

My first prototype, shown in another thread, has a fully assembled gondola (servo and pen) that weighs just under 400g. It still seems to be working mechanically with the 150 g counterweights you talked about...
