All the kids are making "light paintings" these days, so why not us polargraphers?

Here's a 3D printable gondola for mounting a LED that is turned off and on by the "pen lift" servo. That way there's no need for a separate "light painting" branch of the firmware.

So, Thingiverse is working for me again, and I got the project almost ready to go live, but then I hear that Stratasys has launched the first salvo of legal attacks on their competitors.

Now I feel like using Thingiverse is tacit support for Stratasys' business practices (in that they own Makerbot, the infringer they bought rather than sued) . Rather than adding new projects to Thingiverse, I'm feeling more inclined to taking my stuff down. If I thought anyone would notice, that is.

I started going down the Github path, but chickened out halfway through the process. It's just too foreign for a non-programmer like me, and the benefits of version control are outweighed by the learning curve.

So I took the easy course and put the files on YouMagine.com.

Since this project will appeal to only a handful of people, I'm not too concerned about where the files live, and I'll use this opportunity to kick YouMagine's tires. For those interested, the upload process was equivalent to that of Thingiverse, with the annoying exception that images must be 16:9 (landscape) or they will be cropped.

In a world where a site called "Yahoo!" was trumped by another called "Google", what's in a name? Even so, yeah, "YouMagine" will be tough to say out loud in group situations without some embarrassment. Also, it's as (potentially) partisan as Thingiverse, in that it's Ultimaker's site, but I've got no beef with them.

POSSIBLY IMPORTANT:
It just occurred to me that, I believe, my servo has always rotated counter-wise to the polargraph norm. So, everyone should probably flip the servo from what's shown in my images.
