Just thought I'd share some pictures of the initial runs of my Raspberry Pi powered Polargraph. It's much the same as Sandy's Arduino based machine but the sticksteps are connected to an I2C chip controlled by a Pi with Java code. Also helped along by a bit of lunchtime advice from Sandy...

It's not a finished item yet as I want to transfer my breadboard layout onto a PCB and I also want to add a servo to lift the pen.

Anyway here are my initial results without pen lift:

Beautiful stuff! So glad you got it running, and very glad to help. I can't help but think this is the way forward. I will be coming to you for advice soon I suspect 🙂

Hi mbcoder, this is a very promising setup and it could go for a nice kickstarter project!

A few months ago I started to use Rasperry Pi (for a data acquisition project, with ARCH Linux) and I really love that board.

I also have the impression that a "Polargraph 2" based on a Rasperry Pi (without the controller/server division) would give a much simpler hardware and software (!) layout. One could operate it with monitor, headless, over Ethernet, wireless, add the camera …
