Rolled my Win 8.1 laptop back to Java 7 and all runs fine. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is head-scratching.

For anyone else reading this - jinjabeardy made the first pen holder clip that I shipped with PolargraphSDs (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:31973). The current design is based on it (https://github.com/euphy/polargraph_models/blob/master/Gondola_mod_v4_cutout.STL) but is a bit more stripped back. Prints with Taulman T-glase and still nice and strong.
