polargraph_server_polarshield_22.cpp.hex Is for versions of the Polarshield or PolargraphSD that shipped with 2.2 inch screens. but i cant find it.

The source code (uncompiled) is .ino, compiled files are .hex. You use the Arduino app to compile and upload ino files. You use xloader to upload precompiled hex files.

Uploading precompiled hex files is much easier if you have a hex file that matches your hardware.

There is one .hex currently bundles with the code, but it's for more recent versions of the LCD, so it probably won't work. (It won't do any harm, just the LCD won't work properly.)

I think this commit might suit the generation of board and LCD that you have:

There's two .hex files in there, one for the 2.2 inch LCD, and the other for the 2.4 inch LCD. You probably have a 2.2 inch one, so save the file
