Hi Sandy,

It seems like things are heating up around here lately! I was wondering if we could expand the forum into a bunch of sections, to make it easier to find information based on the set up you have.

Maybe a section for Uno builds, one for Mega builds, trouble shoot section, final build info, coding/development area, drawing techniques (TSP), area to post drawings/command files, etc...

What do you think? Sorry to be a pain, it's just getting hard for me to follow different threads and try to figure out which pertain to me and my setup (all these alternative motor shield things going on).

Hi there,

this was what i was thinking too. maybe it would be more transparent to have sections, now as the traffic and the subjects here are increasing to a level where it might make sense. just a thought...

Happy to oblige if you think it'll be useful. Would a request for help with a mega build go into "mega builds" or "troubleshooting"? Would a discussion of a problem with producing large TSPs go into drawing techniques or coding? I can't really decide (which is partly why I didn't do that in the first place...) but I'm happy to take suggestions if they aren't going to make people confused about where to post stuff. 3-4 sections maybe, plus the general one (this one).

I think you're over thinking it. People will post in the wrong sections regardless of how detailed they are or whatnot. An admin can always just move a post to whatever section is relevant.

To answer your question, I consider coding anything related to Arduino code. So I would think the TSP related stuff would go under drawing techniques. And if there's enough interest/posts related to TSP, you could always create a TSP related section underneath drawing techniques

Right now there is less than a couple dozen threads. It's not a problem to spend 30-40 minutes reading through all of them. But a few months from now when more and more people join, it will be hard to keep track of things. Even now, I have to remember if something you told me was in an Instructable comment, a comment on a blog post on your home page, or inside a thread.

There are so many awesome little bits of information scattered, it would be great to get organized now, to cut down on all the stupid questions later. (I know I had a TON of stupid questions.....thanks for your patience with me in regards to that) 🙂

Yep, you're right, I know posts don't always end up in the right place first time, but the categories should make sense so that there _is_ a right place. Like, lanthan's post about new build with the serial drivers and the new firmware - that could go in "build" or "code". _Very_ useful code resource, and very useful build resource. I would put it in "build", but someone who has already constructed the circuit, and is just looking for code to make their serial driver polargraph work wouldn't find it. I suppose the 80/20 principle applies.

That said, it's not set in stone - see how it goes, very open to ideas. It's already a couple of dozen times more popular than I thought it'd be 🙂

Thanks for setting up the new categories! If I don't have time today, I'll start posting stuff next week in the new sections. This weekend is practically a holiday here in the US with St Patrick's Day. Maybe not a holiday, but a great weekend to drink!
