Lindsay R. Wilson ( http://www.imajeenyus.com and creator of http://www.axidraw.com ) has a good roundup of single line fonts that are useful for CNC and plotters:

By an astonishing coincidence, a talented programmer sent me a note this very same day about a Processing-based tool to render single-line Hershey fonts into PShapes (and SVGs).

http://ixd-hof.de/processing_hersheyfont/

I'm always a bit afraid of integrating "creative" tools into the Polargraph controller because it's such a clunky interface and I can't help but think it makes for a fairly unrewarding experience, given there are specialised tools already that do that stuff (inkscape).

What's the feeling - should something like this be part of the controller?

I wouldn't prioritize fonts in the controller before other features (say, other render modes). If it's an easy drop in, I'm not going to turn my nose at new features, though.

One of the font sets featured in the roundup that I liked (Eng_ from Sawmillcreek) is hard to work with in Inkscape. The letters don't render correctly until you convert them to paths. So, things can be a bit "clunky" there, too.
