Im am interested in this projec becous i want paint a wall for my doughter.
My painting skills are really bad, so my idea was a plotter with ropes.
Now i found this site what is nearly what i want to build.
I would like to build a 4 motor version and try to let a vacuum pump hold it strong enough angainst the wall.
Anyone tried something like that?

With four taut cables, I suspect the vacuum would be superfluous. Especially if the cable spools (on the motors) are slightly closer to the wall than where the cables connect to the gondola.

Have you checked out the Zar Plotter? It's closer to what you're discussing than a polargraph: https://www.zarplotter.com/

Hi! Some resources:
* http://juerglehni.com/works/viktor - four cables machine
* http://www.maslowcnc.com/ - heavy duty machine.

Polargraph isn't a good choice to use for this - you'll need something with a bit more mechanical intent behind it. You'll have to think of a marker that can paint the wall and not be disturbed or scrubbed off by the vacuum device.

good luck,
sn

As marker i Think about spray cans.

At a long distance the force angainst the wall get smaller, with vacuum the distance is no problem.
A gondola on wheels + vacuum could be the answer to get enough force to the wall and also let it roll easy and Precise.
But Victor really Looks like it could work without vacuum.
