I know it's cool isn't it! One of the things I like about all these "soft" cnc things is that they are all reconfigurations of the same kit. Controller, two motors, servo. Yer I jumped at the kickstarter to buy one too, but caught myself! I keep on getting weird "cool" products through the post here, and think to myself "what am I going to use this for?..."

I love EMSL and would like to support their efforts in a tangible way, but their kits always cost more than I can afford (or more than I can rationalize the expense - - e.g. a $200 egg decorator).

I got into polargraph drawing because I had almost all the parts I needed in my bins. Unfortunately, though EMSL open sources their stuff, they keep using their own board rather than something I have laying around (like an arduino and motor shield), which is a barrier to someone like me who has limited funds, limited time, and limited understanding of electronics.

I don't want to discourage anyone who has the $300 to spend, though. Go for it! Click the big green "support" button! I spent many happy minutes watching the WaterColorBot go through its paces at Maker Faire. I'm sure it would be great fun to have one to play with.
