Post Printing large files

Hello everybody,

I am trying to print a poster of the number pi with 15000 digits, but my svg file is huge (14mb) and after I import it the controller freezes.

Is it my mac problem or the polargraph controller can't handle files this big? Maybe if I run the controller in Processing could I get better results?

thanks!

Importing the SVG isn't very efficient, and can take ages, but it usually works eventually. It's no fun waiting for 10 minutes though, and once it's loaded (it if ever does), it's a absolute dog to move and scale.

I don't think running it from source won't make any difference.

My suggestion is that you make 4 (or so) SVGs, each one identical size of document, but each one with a quarter of the text on it, load them into the controller one after another and each time save the resulting queue to a file, and then finally merge all the files into one.

You could also try and simplify the svg file - think about how small the characters will be once drawn, and how much detail you really need to be able to show.

That'll be one hefty txt file, but you could always keep them separate and draw them one after another if it gets hard to handle.
