I've put together a polargraph (later on I will document all parts of it for flickr group) and I'm using controller v1.10.6
I am able to draw vector, pen lift works great, pixel rendering is also great (quick timelapse here http://instagram.com/p/y3wFFTGU3C/ ) but everything on roving tab fails.

I tried following this write up

I assume "set roving area" in step 4 is the same as "Send Roving Area" that I'm seeing in gui. When I click on it I get an error, mentioning unknown w1.pbm and then if I try to proceed with other steps, it can't seem to load my image file. I've treid "C:\lab01.pbm" as an image file name, with and without quotation marks. I'm saving greyscale PBMs from photoshop. You can see queue output in attached screenshot

Probably worth mentioning that I can't seem to locate sprites for text and was never able to figure out text rendering as well. I tried looking through source code to figure out if it assumes a specific folder as root for all images, but didn't find anything there.
Might be a stupid question, but was this only meant to work with polargraphSD ?

Oops, yes you're right, it's an SD thing, maybe I should've made that clearer. All the roving stuff all relies on having an SD card local to the machine. In principle the whole "roving" tab should be hidden when an UNO is connected, but I think I couldn't figure out an elegant way to do that - sorry about the confusion.

I do have an SD card shield/module compatible with arduino, but then I'm guessing it still needs and LCD and other hardware?

No if you can rig the electronics, then you can trigger it without the LCD, but the big issue is that the SD card library is too big to fit into the flash on UNO type boards. That's the main reason I shifted up to the mega actually, just more memory.

I can only find server for uno boards (server_a1). Do I just need to dig through source and comment in SD library and find pins for SD card?

oops sorry I just noticed you mention in one of news posts that code no longer fits on Uno and that all extra features are moved to Mega branch of firmware. I will go study that in detail 🙂

This post http://www.polargraph.co.uk/2012/02/state-of-the-art-tangle/ has some diagrams though - there was actually surprisingly little to it.
