Better stepper drivers

As you can see, technolgical develoment never stops. That said, makes you wonder if this kind of 'BLDC style' controllers will get a RepRapped counterpart.

"A brief demonstration of Source Twos Advanced Stepper Motor Controller technology (on the right). The motors are identical Detech NEMA 34 rotary steppers; standard controller technology is shown on the left. The purpose of the fixture is to see and feel the difference between the 2 technologies. Its a difference that you can hear and feel.

Both stepper motors are receiving equal current and being run at approximately the same speed. The motor on the left is running like a stepper while the motor on the right behaves like a BLDC. The end result is higher speed with higher torque, quieter operation, very low resonance, no stalling and energy efficient operation. Modes include Velocity, Torque and Position and other based on customer requirements. "
